No favourites

4 January 2013

Boss Bowyer believes that league results have no bearing in the FA Cup.

Caretaker boss Gary Bowyer is ignoring the favourites tag applied to his Rovers squad ahead of Saturday's FA Cup 3rd round tie with Bristol City.

Mid-table Rovers take on bottom three side City in the all-Championship clash at Ewood Park this weekend, but despite Rovers having already defeated the Robins 5-3 at Ashton Gate back in September, Bowyer knows it will count for nothing come the three o'clock on Saturday.

"It was good to win down there and score five goals, but tomorrow is a different day and a different game," said Bowyer.

"I always think that in the FA Cup there aren't any favourites and that league position makes no difference, but the players are eager to carry it on, It is another game to win and we'll be focusing the players to try and win the game again although it will be a tough match.

"The FA Cup is a top competition and there's a chance to get to Wembley so we are looking forward to it.

"The cup can take the pressure away from the league and you've seen cup upsets many many times because people have been favourites.

"We'll just try and keep the momentum going and try and get through, obviously Bristol City will be trying to do the same.

"It is a chance to beat Bristol City and to get through to the next round at the end of January."

Tickets for Saturday's FA Cup match will be on sale up until kick-off. Prices start from £15 for Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 Juniors.

Also available on the concourses on Saturday is Thwaites Smooth at just £2 a pint, whilst in Blues Bar it is £2 for Smooth and Guinness, and Kronenburg 1664 is available for just £2.50 a pint. These's offers are available whilst stocks last.
