Bowyer ecstatic as Rovers register a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Nottingham Forest.

Caretaker boss Gary Bowyer had a home game to remember as Rovers defeated Nottingham Forest thanks to three unanswered second half goals.

The first half was a closely contested affair but the same couldn't be said of the second as goals from Ruben Rochina, Jordan Rhodes and Colin Kazim-Richards made it the perfect start to 2013.

"It was truly magnificent wasn't it?" said Bowyer on Radio Rovers after the game.

"In the first half I felt it was a typical game after two games over Christmas, both teams took a while to get going.

"In the second half we got the break with the goal and from then on I thought we were magnificent. The goal lifted them and they found even more energy which is astonishing when you consider the effort they put in on Saturday at Barnsley."

After Rovers had lead due to Rochina's deflected effort, the home side were grateful to Jake Kean for an outstanding fingertip save to keep Forest's Billy Sharp from levelling, a save belying his young years.

"The save from Jake Kean was top draw," added Bowyer. "Then you have Danny Murphy heading the ball off the line.

"The desire from everybody from front to back was just amazing.

"It is hard not to single anyone out, they were all tremendous, you could name everyone for their efforts today, they were all fighting for each other and it was great to see, I can't give them enough praise."

Rovers are back at Ewood Park this Saturday when they entertain Bristol City in the third round of the FA Cup. Tickets are on sale with prices starting from £10 for Season Ticket Holders. Book online at and collect your tickets on the day of the game.
