Familiar face

19 January 2013

Michael Appleton is looking forward to going head-to-head with one of his old pals when Rovers face Charlton Athletic at Ewood Park.

Appleton knows Addicks boss Chris Powell well from his playing days and also as a regular on the same coaching courses.

The Rovers boss is expecting a tough match for his first game in charge and knows of the importance of a good start at home.

"Chris Powell's sides are always difficult to beat," said Appleton. "I know him well from playing against him and coming across him in all the coaching courses over previous years.

"He has certainly made Charlton very difficult to beat, they had a very good season last year getting promoted comfortably.

"This week will be no different, we know what is coming in terms of how difficult the game is going to be, we just have to try and make sure that we get a good start.

"Then it follows with another difficult one against Brighton."

Tickets for Appleton's first game are on open sale and available right until the 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are from just £15 for Adults, £10 for Seniors and £5 Juniors.
