Dust yourselves down

23 January 2013

Rovers boss doesn't want the players dwell on the disappointment of Tuesday night.

Michael Appleton has told his players not to let the disappointment of conceding a last minute leveller against Brighton on Tuesday night spoil what was an improved performance.

After Saturday's loss at Charlton Athletic, Rovers put in the sort of display expected of them with a hardworking showing against Gus Poyet's side.

Appleton believes that Rovers have now set a benchmark in terms of performance and wants that to continue when Rovers are back in action this Saturday in the FA Cup with Budweiser when they travel to Pride Park to take on Derby County in the fourth round of the competition.

"The one thing I did say to the players is that I hate sulking, I can't be doing with sulking," Appleton told Radio Rovers.

"I like players to be disappointed and be hurt by giving away an opportunity to get three points.

"But what I've said to them is dust yourself down, have a rest but make sure that when you come back in on Thursday you are fully focussed for what is hopefully going to be a good cup tie.

"On Saturday we get to switch off from the league campaign and hopefully enjoy a cup run.

"It is going to be a tough game away at Derby, they are a decent side, a young side but it is a game that is winnable."
