Michael Appleton has wished Mauro Formica every success with his loan move to Serie A.
The Argentine attacker has linked up with Italian side Palermo on a deal until the end of the season and the Rovers boss hopes that the move will do the player good.
"He is going there on loan until the end of the season," said Appleton on Thursday.
"I think it is important that he gets some football, I think his head wasn't in the right place at the minute, he has gone through a bit of a tough period with his family over recent months, so I just think he needed something different, a change of environment and a change of culture for him going over to Palermo.
"Hopefully he can get some football, hopefully he can get some form and obviously we'll reassess it at the end of the season."
