A model to follow

22 January 2013

Ahead of the match between the two sides this evening, Michael Appleton has been singing the praises of Brighton & Hove Albion.

The manager believes that the model tonight's opposition have implemented has served Gus Poyet's side well and it is something that Rovers should follow.

"Brighton, without any shadow of a doubt, as they do week-in, week-out, will have more of the ball than we do," said Appleton. "That is just the way they play.

"You've got to remember that they've been doing that now for three and a bit years since they were playing in League One.

"What they've done and what we need to do here, in my humble opinion, is they get their recruitment right.

"Any player that comes in to Brighton has been recruited properly.

"They've probably got six or seven midfield players vying for three or four positions at Brighton and if you sat down and watched them you wouldn't need to know who the players were because you know they all play exactly the same way.

"It doesn't matter who is playing, you just need to know the formation they are playing and the moves that they makes."
