Solid performance required

9 February 2013

Michael Appleton is expecting another tough npower Championship encounter when Ipswich Town visit Ewood Park later today.

Rovers go into the game off the back of a run that has seen just one defeat in their last eight outings, but they come up against a Town side who impressively defeated Middlesbrough 4-0 last time out.

"We need to put in another solid performance this Saturday," said the Rovers boss.

"Ipswich had a fantastic result against a good Middlesbrough side so it'll be a tough, tough, game.

"I think we are certainly going in the right direction which has been proven with the two clean sheets but we've got to make sure we are on our game every week."

The match sees Appleton come up against a previous Black Country foe in Mick McCarthy, with the Rovers boss full of admiration for the former Wolves man.

"Mick was the manager at Wolves when I was the first team coach and assistant manager at West Brom.

"I've got to say Mick is one of the people in the game who I respect massively and I've got a lot of time for.

"He's a straight talker like myself, he tells it how it is and I like dealing and speaking with people like that.

"But I just hope his team has an off day and I'll wish him well after the game."

Tickets for today's game will be on sale right up until the 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are from £15 for Adults, £10 Seniors and from just £5 for Juniors.
