Six points are vital

1 February 2013

Michael Appleton has stressed the importance of getting two wins from the next two home games.

Rovers take on Bristol City this weekend before facing Ipswich Town at Ewood Park in seven days time and if the club are to press their claims for a place in the top six come the end of the season then the manager knows it is imperative that both games are won.

"Obviously it is going to be important, although what happens in other games will dictate how important six points is," said the Rovers boss.

"We just want to win every game if we possibly can, it isn't as easy as that as we all know because it is a difficult league.

"I watched Bristol City on Tuesday night where Watford had an opportunity to go second in the league and they lose the game 2-0.

"Bristol City have now won two games on the bounce so they'll come to Ewood Park on the crest of a wave after having two very good results so I'm sure they'll be looking forward to the game."

The two sides met just four weeks ago in the 3rd round of the FA Cup with Rovers comfortably winning that encounter 2-0, but Appleton knows that Saturday's game will be a totally different affair.

"They are a completely different animal altogether now," added Appleton. "They work very hard and are very difficult to play against as Watford found out on Tuesday night so it'll be the same on Saturday I'm sure.

"It'll be a tough game, it might need a piece of clinical finishing on the day that wins it and hopefully we'll be the ones that are celebrating the victory."

Tickets for Saturday's game will be on sale right up until kick-off priced from £15 for Adults, £10 for Seniors and £5 Juniors.
