DJ adds to striking options

8 February 2013

Rovers add new signing DJ Campbell to the squad for Saturday's match against Ipswich Town.

The new loan arrival is the only addition ahead of the game at Ewood Park after Football League clearance was received.

Fellow new signing Lee Williamson is struggling with a virus so doesn't come into consideration, but with Michael Appleton reporting no problems with those away on international duty in midweek too many changes aren't expected.

"I feel sorry for Lee," said the Rovers boss. "He came in and trained with us on Tuesday but he wasn't feeling too great. He had a bit of a virus so he's been in bed for the last two days.

"We're delighted to get his services but he won't be involved tomorrow.

"Grant pulled out the Scotland game with a bit of a niggly injury but he's okay, and as far as we can see the rest of those who have been away have reported back fit and well."

Several players are making good progress in their return to full fitness, with the boss expecting plenty to be back in the squad over the next few weeks.

"Leon has had a few days training now, he's a little bit off the pace at the minute but he's slowly coming up to scratch," added Appleton. "We'll probably look to give him his first game in about a week or so.

"Robbo has just been doing little bits with John Keeley the goalkeeping coach, so I'm sure he'll be around the first team some part next week.

"Dunny is probably about three or four days away from being back with the team whilst Dickson has had his first training session this morning which was good to see.

"I'm hearing Adam Henley is probably a week or so away from joining back in with the players so all of a sudden things are starting to shape up a little bit, the strength in quality and in depth is slowly starting to improve."

The manager is expected to select from: Kean, Orr, Dann, Hanley, Martin Olsson, Pedersen, Lowe, Murphy, Markus Olsson, Kazim-Richards, Rhodes, Usai, Givet, Fabio Nunes, Campbell, Nuno Gomes, Kane, Morris, Goodwillie.

Tickets for Saturday's game will be on sale right up until the 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are from £15 for Adults, £10 Seniors and from just £5 for Juniors.
