Deals still to be done

1 February 2013

Boss positive there'll be arrivals once the loan window opens.

Michael Appleton has spoken of his deadline day disappointment after missing out on two top transfer targets, but the manager remains confident of strengthening his squad when the loan window opens next week.

The Rovers boss was left frustrated as the club were unable to conclude deals for the duo ahead of last night's 11pm deadline, but Appleton is hopeful of welcoming some new arrivals to Ewood Park very soon.

"In the end it became a time issue," admitted the manager.

"The fact that we've been able to attract the players that we were attracting gives me a lot of hope.

"I think time just gave up on us in the end. We've got to look after the best interests of the football club, obviously the representatives of the players have got to look after the best interests of the players.

"I think we did get there, but obviously the clock just beat us to it.

"The players are disappointed. I spoke to them both late last night, but they did make me very confident that something still would be done.

"If that is the case, hopefully we can look forward to getting them back in the building next week at some point and finally getting them over the line."

Rovers are back in action this Saturday when Bristol City visit Ewood Park. Tickets will be on sale right up until kick-off priced from £15 for Adults, £10 for Seniors and £5 Juniors.
