Rovers midfielder David Dunn is backing a unique fundraiser that offers the full professional footballing experience in aid of Blackburn Youth Zone.
Working in partnership, Blackburn Youth Zone, Blackburn Rovers and Northcote have teamed up to give football fans the opportunity to live their dream by taking part in ‘The Big Kick’, an exclusive football charity event hosted at Ewood Park on Saturday May 25th.
Zone Ambassador Dunny is backing The Big Kick, which aims to raise £35,000 for the Youth Zone.
He said: “I’d encourage as many people as possible, no matter what team they support, to sign up to take part in The Big Kick. Ensuring the town’s young people have something to do, somewhere to go and someone to talk to is really important and money raised will be invested into developing the Zone’s services for the benefit of the future of our town - its young people.”
Comprising of a football tournament and an evening celebration, participants who take part in The Big Kick will be given access to a dedicated professional football coach, a bespoke football kit, use of the players’ facilities and guaranteed playing time on Rovers’ professional pitch. The tournament will be filmed, capturing every goal in every game – your chance to star in your very own version of Match of the Day!
The day concludes with an evening celebration and three-course meal at the famous ‘Northcote at the Rovers’.
Laura Jones, Zone Events Manager, added: “We are looking for 12 teams of 15 players to compete in the tournament, with each player in the squad being required to raise £200 in sponsorship. So, if you have ever wanted to play football on a professional pitch, The Big Kick offers you the perfect opportunity to fulfill that dream!”
