On a busy day of transfer activity, manager Michael Appleton has made it a double deal with the signing of former fans' favourite David Bentley.
Following the arrival of defender Karim Rekik from Manchester City, Bentley returns to Rovers on loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The 28-year-old started his career with Arsenal, but it was following his switch to Ewood Park in August 2005 that his career really took off.
The initial loan move was quickly made permanent and he celebrated in the perfect manner by bagging a hat-trick against Manchester United in a famous 4-3 victory at the beginning of February 06.
He would go on to play a starring role for Rovers that season, as the club finished sixth to qualify for the UEFA Cup.
The following year, Bentley scored seven goals as Rovers again claimed a top ten finish, before another impressive campaign saw the winger receive England honours for the first time.
The summer of 2008 saw Bentley earn a big-money move to Tottenham, where he has found first team chances limited over the past five years.
Loan spells at Birmingham and West Ham were both cut short by injury, before Bentley enjoyed game time in Russia with FC Rostov earlier this season.
The England international, who has seven senior caps to his name, arrives on a 93-day loan and is eligible to play in tomorrow's FA Cup clash against his former club. He will wear squad number 35.
Blues Bar at Ewood Park will be showing the match live on their big screens. Find out more details here.
