Strength of character

18 December 2013

Chris Taylor believes that character and resilience shown in Saturday's 3-2 win over Millwall will stand them in good stead as the season progreses.

With the busy Christmas period fast approaching, the win saw Rovers move up to 11th in the table, six points off the play-offs.

It certainly wasn't pretty, but Rovers ground out the result to claim a welcome three points, something Taylor predicts that they'll need to do again.

"The conditions really didn't help for both teams, it was hard but we have come away with three points in a tough game, so you can look at that as a big bonus," Taylor told Radio Rovers.

"If you want to do something in the season there might be games like that. It shows a strength of character to come through those games with points on the board.

"We've dropped points when we've played better, now we've nowhere near played to our maximum and yet picked up three points.

"If you want to get anywhere in this league you've got to do that more than just today, there might be other days when you need to do that."

Next up for Rovers is a trip to Somerset to face Yeovil Town, before two home games against Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham.

Taylor added: "You don't want to look too far ahead, you've always to take one game at a time but I think we've got a good opportunity now to really kick on.

"Winning breeds confidence and you get into a bit of a habit. Hopefully we can start that habit of picking up points whether or not we are playing our best."
