Show the same attitude and mentality

31 December 2013

Boss Gary Bowyer wants Rovers to earn their first league double of the campaign when they take on Leeds United on New Years Day.

The two sides last met at Ewood Park at the end of November as Rovers ran out 1-0 winners in a tight encounter courtesy of Tommy Spurr's goal at the end of the first half.

The Blues and the Whites do battle once more this Wednesday in an eagerly-awaited Roses clash, with Bowyer wanting a repeat result.

"It is about us going with the same attitude and mentality that we showed at home to Leeds," said Bowyer. "It is going to be a tough game, we know that.

"But I think on how we performed with the ball and how we were, especially in the second half, against Birmingham we go there with a lot of confidence.

"We have to be really up for it because it is going to be a hell of an atmosphere, it is New Years Day so I'm sure there'll be an extra few thousand on the gate.

"It is a game that our players are really looking forward to."

The Rovers boss knows that Leeds will have revenge on their minds after the 1-0 loss a month ago, but Bowyer insists his side can take heart from their last two away displays.

"We know that they'll be up for the fight because they'll want to try and put that straight from suffering the defeat at Ewood but we've got to prepare properly and have a right good go," added Bowyer.

"The game we had at Ewood not so long ago was a tight affair, there was only one goal in it and we were fortunate enough to get that goal through Tommy Spurr, so we'll be looking for more of the same this time.

"We got a good point at QPR that gave the players some confidence away from home.

"Again we should have been more ruthless against Yeovil and won the game more convincingly than what we did.

"That said we go into the Leeds game with some confidence and we are looking forward to it."

Tickets for the Elland Road match will be available on the day of the game from the visitors ticket office priced £34.00 Adults, £23.00 Senior Citizens aged 60+, £23.00 Full Time Students aged 22+, £23.00 Young Adults 16 - 21 and £16.00 Juniors under 16 years.
