Jason Lowe was delighted that Rovers won ugly against Millwall at the weekend.
The Rovers midfielder admits that the side were far from their best against the Lions, but it was only the three points that counted at Ewood Park.
Speaking to Radio Rovers after the game, Lowe said: "Going into it we said that we need to win it.
"We know ourselves that we are loads better than that, but what we did show was a lot of character.
"They were tough conditions, we knew what Millwall was all about, it is just disappointing that we conceded two goals, we'll put that right for sure.
"The main thing is the three points, we've played a lot better than that here and drawn or lost, so I think that it could be a turning point in winning games and playing poorly.
"It can be hard to take when you've played well and lost, there were times last year where we would have lost that game.
"So credit to the lads with the character and the spirit. We did all the off the ball stuff very well, the dirty side of the game and got our rewards.
"We need to be better but it is a big three points and we move onto the next one."
