Maintaining standards

24 December 2013

Gary Bowyer feels that his young side are starting to play with more consistency.

After the first half of the season saw mixed results, Rovers head into the festive period with one defeat from their last six games.

Unbeaten in three, Rovers face Sheffield Wednesday at Ewood Park on Boxing Day in good heart, but the manager maintains that his side will have to continue to improve to get their rewards.

"We said at the beginning about patience and understanding," said Bowyer. "They are a young side and in my opinion that young team now is getting some maturity and getting more Championship games under their belts and has a better understanding of what is required and they are showing some consistency.

"But we can't rest on our laurels now, it isn't a case of patting ourselves on the back saying well done for how well we've done in the last three games.

"It is now about focussing on Sheffield Wednesday and maintaining the standards that the lads have set themselves."

Tickets for the Ewood Park match on Boxing Day are currently on open sale with prices from £19 for Adults, £12 Seniors and £7 Juniors.
