Keep the games coming

23 December 2013

The festive season might be a busy one, but as far as boss Gary Bowyer is concerned, the more games the better.

Rovers go into the Boxing Day clash with Sheffield Wednesday in good form with a run of seven points from their last three outings.

That includes the 1-0 win over Yeovil Town last time out, a match in which Rovers created some 25 efforts at goal.

Speaking ahead of Thursday's match the manager said: "The games come thick and fast and fortunately we picked up a win at Yeovil so it is good to keep the games coming and we are looking forward to it.

"I think the brand of football that we played on Saturday and the chances that we created was very pleasing as well. We played some really good stuff, I was delighted with the performance.

"To be an away team and to come and put a performance on like that, to control possession, the first half especially, was a fantastic effort from our lads.

"We were just a little bit disappointed that we didn't convert more of those chances and make it a bit more comfortable for ourselves."

The 1-0 victory over Yeovil Town made it back-to-back clean sheets away from home for the first time  in three-and-a-half years, following up the fully-deserved goalless draw at Queens Park Rangers with the win at Huish Park.

Those two performances on the road were in stark contrast to the earlier display at Portman Road when they slumped to a 3-1 loss to Ipswich Town.

"A lot was said after the Ipswich game and the lads have responded magnificently," added the Blackburn Rovers manager.

"To have two back-to-back clean sheets is every important."

Tickets for the Ewood Park match on Boxing Day are currently on open sale with prices from £19 for Adults, £12 Seniors and £7 Juniors.
