Eastwood expects tight encounter

28 December 2013

With three clean sheets in his first four league games in a Rovers shirt, Simon Eastwood couldn't be happier.

The former Portsmouth stopper has stepped into the starting eleven in recent weeks and has impressed with fine displays to help Rovers rise up the table with a four-match unbeaten run.

A summer arrival, Eastwood has had to be patient to get into the first team, but the 24-year-old is delighted to finally be playing his part.

"I'm just taking every game as it comes really, I just prepare for every game," Eastwood told Radio Rovers.

"There are a lot of games coming up now which I am looking forward to and I will try and stay in the team as long as I can."

After three shut-outs in four, Eastwood wants the same against Birmingham City this Sunday, but is expecting another tough encounter.

"I think it is going to be another tight game, Birmingham are a good team," added Eastwood.

"But hopefully we can get an early goal, that is the aim. Then we can build on that and hopefully keep another clean sheet. As a back four and myself it is something that we go out to do every game.

"It is a busy period that we are in, there are a lot of games coming up.

"We've just got to keep putting points on the board and that is what we have done."

Tickets for Sunday's game will be on sale up until the 3.00pm kick-off. Priced from £19 Adults, £12 Seniors and £7 Juniors.
