100 not out for Lowe

3 December 2013

If selected this evening against Ipswich Town, Jason Lowe will be making his 100th senior appearance in a Blackburn Rovers shirt.

January 2011 saw a fresh-faced 19-year-old make his Rovers debut, playing the full match as Rovers defeated Queens Park Rangers 1-0 in the FA Cup.

The following week Lowe made his league debut, coming on as an early substitute against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, and although he ended the 2010-11 season gaining experience on loan at Oldham Athletic, he hasn't looked back since and has quickly reached 99  appearances.

Speaking of the 100, Lowe said: "I was aware a few weeks ago that it was coming up and it will be nice to get to the milestone for the club. I'm just hoping we can get the win on the day.

"I remember my debut against Queens Park Rangers then the following week my Premier League debut against Chelsea."

The midfielder believes that he has improved his all round game this season, but has vowed to continue to work harder to get better.

His first goal in a Rovers shirt was a memorable one as his 25yd strike clinched a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at the beginning last month.

"I've been working on my game, I'm trying to get more forward in those attacking positions," added Lowe.

"I'm doing that a lot more this season, obviously I'd like to contribute to the goal tally a little bit more.

"But I feel like I'm coming into my own, I want to be a box-to-box midfield player and use my energy in getting up and down the field.

"I just need to keep working hard and keep improving and see what happens.

"I think I'm in the best form that I've played for the club at the moment, but there is plenty more improvement for me to do and plenty more to come. So hopefully throughout the season there are better performances to come. I'm far from the finished article."
