Rovers' Under-21s are back in action this Bank Holiday Monday night when they travel to take on Sunderland at the Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.
Eric Kinder's side go into the game fresh from their 2-1 win over Reading at Ewood Park last time out when late goals from Bradley Bauress and Devarn Green gave Rovers their first win of the season.
Sunderland will provide a stern test however as they have opened their league campaign with back-to-back victories. Starting off the campaign with a 1-0 win over Bolton Wanderers before beating Leicester City by the odd goal in five last Monday.
Rovers had the better of the matches between the two sides last season, an Anton Forrester brace saw them defeat the Black Cats 2-1 at Leigh Sports Village, before goals from John O'Sullivan and Jordan Slew saw Rovers win 2-0 away from home.
With the seniors beating Barnsley at the weekend Rovers are expected to name a young side, but Adam Henley should continue his return to full fitness with another runout.
Kick-off this evening is 7.00pm.
