Time to get down to business

1 August 2013

With the pre-season preparations almost complete, boss Gary Bowyer is pleased to be able to concentrate on the serious business of the Sky Bet Championship.

Rovers kick off the new campaign away at Derby County this Sunday at 4pm, and the manager is pleased with the playing squad's efforts during the summer.

"The spirit has been good, we've had a good pre-season in terms of togetherness," said the Rovers boss.

"We are happy with how our pre-season has gone and the preparations that have been made.

"I'm pleased with the efforts and the levels of fitness that we've reached and we are very much looking forward to the Derby game now."

The relentless nature of the Sky Bet Championship means that Rovers have at least six games in a four week spell in August, plus some of the squad will be away on international duty.

But Bowyer believes the players are well prepared for the new campaign.

"We can go into the season knowing that we have reached the levels that we set out at the beginning of pre-season and now it is down to the nitty gritty business side," added Bowyer.

"It is going to be a tough three or four weeks for us now because there isn't much of a break.

"There's an international game and we've the Capital One Cup game against Carlisle United as well.

"So it is going to be full on but now we are reaching the serious stuff and everybody has to be focused and ready for Derby.

"It is a great game for us and we are all excited, now it is the serious business."

Tickets will be on sale at Pride Park on the day of the game from 2pm at the Away Ticket Office, supporters should note that there is a price increase on the day so it is advisable to get them in advance from Rovers. Full details can be found here.

For those unable to go, Rovers Player will be providing full match commentary. Sign up for the new season here.
