The first of many

30 August 2013

Gary Bowyer believes games against their Lancashire rivals could play a huge role in how this season shapes up.

Rovers take on Bolton Wanderers at Ewood Park this weekend before a trip to face Burnley after the international break. Whilst October sees further local derbies away at Wigan Athletic and Blackpool.

"It is the first one for us this weekend, there are going to be a lot of them this year in the north west," said Bowyer on the derby clash.

"That in itself is going to be competitive for all the north west teams.

"They are a different type of game, it will be a good atmosphere, they'll bring their following and we've just got to make sure that we play the game and not the occasion."

Rovers go into the Ewood match against the Trotters in good shape following their first win of the season last time out, with Bowyer demanding more points.

"I've said it before that I don't think we've got enough points on the board from what our performances have warranted," added the Rovers boss.

"That is going to even itself out over the season, I'm sure there'll be games where we are second best and still manage to win.

"We have to take both those situations and move on and get points on the board.

"It is a difficult time with the close of the window and the international break, so it will be good to go into that off the back of two back-to-back victories."

Tickets for Saturday's game will be on sale up to the 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are from £19 Adults, £12 Seniors and £7 Juniors.
