Striker relishing Auld Enemy clash

14 August 2013

Jordan Rhodes says it would be a dream come true if he plays for Scotland against England at Wembley this evening.

The Rovers striker, along with defender Grant Hanley, is in the Scotland squad for this evening's Teenage Cancer Trust International, and believes it would be a special occasion to feature in the first meeting at Wembley between the two countries in 14 years.

"It would be fantastic," said Rhodes.

"You look at the scale of games throughout the world, the derbies, the World Cup qualifiers and games in World Cup finals and some of them don't even come as big as what this game is.

"This is what you dream of playing in when you are younger, especially growing up in Scotland.

"To go there and be a part of Scotland team and maybe play some part on the pitch would be pretty special."

Elsewhere this evening, Josh King is with the Norwegian squad for their friendly against Sweden in Stockholm, Corry Evans' Northern Ireland face Russia and Anthony O'Connor has a Republic of Ireland u21 friendly with the Faroe Islands.
