Gary Bowyer is looking for the same sort of display against Carlisle United this evening as they showed at Derby County at the weekend.
Rovers kicked off their Sky Bet Championship campaign on Sunday with a 1-1 draw at Pride Park, showing good determination and character to level late on thanks to Leon Best's fine strike.
Now as they prepare to face Carlisle United at Brunton Park in the 1st round of the Capital One Cup tonight, Bowyer wants more of the same.
"I can't praise the players enough for the way we went about the game on Sunday," said the Rovers boss.
"The way we started and the chances that we created in the first 20 minutes on another day we could have been sat there 3-0 up.
"To then concede to a penalty, which is soft from our point of view the way we conceded it, was really disappointing.
"But full credit to the players for the way they regrouped and they showed the spirit and the character that we've been saying that they have all along."
Bowyer knows that it won't be an easy match at Brunton Park, particularly off the back of their 5-1 opening day loss to Leyton Orient.
"It is going to be a difficult challenge away at Carlisle," added the manager.
"I know that they got beat at the weekend, but they had a player sent off so we can't read too much into that result.
"We know that they'll be gunning for us so it is important that we recover quickly and get ready for it."
Supporters who haven't yet purchased tickets for this evening's cup match can do so at Brunton Park.
