Blackburn Rovers have secured the services of highly-rated defender Tommy Spurr.
The 25-year-old arrives at Ewood Park on a free transfer from Doncaster Rovers, signing a two-year deal.
Manager Gary Bowyer was delighted to add the left-back to his squad, saying: “First and foremost, we are delighted that Tommy has agreed to join us, as there were several clubs chasing his signature.
“We have done our homework. He is a good lad and he will add extra height and energy to our back line.
“He has had a good upbringing in terms of where he learned his trade, in the Championship and League One, so he knows the demands of what is required at this level.
“He played every game for Doncaster last season and that mentality, of winning football matches and winning promotion, is something we are trying to get more of into our dressing room.”
A product of Sheffield Wednesday's Academy, Spurr would go onto make over 200 appearances for the Owls during his time at Hillsborough, before moving to fellow South Yorkshire club Doncaster Rovers in June 2011.
His first season at the Keepmoat Stadium saw Spurr feature regularly, but it was last season he made the left-back spot his own.
The defender played in all of Doncaster's games in an outstanding 2012-13 campaign, as they clinched promotion to the Championship in dramatic fashion on the final day.
