GB: Impose ourselves

23 August 2013

Gary Bowyer is anticipating coming up against determined opposition when Rovers face Barnsley at Ewood Park this Saturday.

The Rovers boss ran the rule over the Tykes last weekend in their 2-2 draw with Charlton Athletic and knows that as with all games in the Sky Bet Championship it won't be an easy task.

But, with Rovers at home, Bowyer insists that it is their job to impose themselves and take the game to the opposition.

"We went and watched them play last week and they are a decent team," said the Rovers boss. "But it is up to us to go and impose ourselves on the game.

"It is a great opportunity for us to play in front of our own supporters and to try and get back to back wins. That is what we are wanting to do."

Bowyer has been impressed with the job that has been done by Barnsley boss David Flitcroft.

The former midfielder took the reigns at Oakwell following Keith Hill's dismissal at the end of December 2012, with Bowyer full of praise with the way Flitcroft steered Barnsley to Championship safety in the final weeks of last season.

"He kept us all up with sleepless nights by what he performed towards the end of last season with Barnsley," said the Rovers boss.

"He's very enthusiastic as a manager and very demanding."
