Excited to be here

28 August 2013

Rovers' latest signing Ben Marshall can't wait to get started with his new club.

The 22-year-old has put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal, signing from fellow Sky Bet Championship club Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

"It is something that I've been looking forward to since I heard it could happen," Marshall told Rovers Player. "So I'm really excited and can't wait to get started.

"I've always known about the club, I've always played against them as a kid so I know how much of big a club it is and what the expectations are."

Marshall, who can play on the flank or further forward, revealed that he spoke to former Rover Paul Gallagher about making the move back to the north west.

"Gally couldn't speak highly enough about the place, he was happy for me to come," added Marshall.

"Also Terry McPhillips was my manager at Crewe, then he came here. So we go back quite a bit.

"I also know the likes of Grant Hanley, Jason Lowe and Josh King as well so it is nice to see a few familiar faces. It is nice that you can come straight in and speak to them and you get to know the lads through them.

"So it always helps, especially knowing Terry on the management side is quite good so I'm happy to be here.

"All I've heard are a lot of good things, I've took that on board and now I'm here."
