Gary Bowyer has hailed last night's England v Scotland match at Wembley as a proud moment for Blackburn Rovers.
The international friendly saw defender Grant Hanley play the full match for Scotland whilst fellow Scot Jordan Rhodes and former Rovers Academy graduate Phil Jones also made an appearance on the hallowed turf.
"I have to say I thought he was magnificent," said the Rovers boss of Hanley's performance. "For a 21 year-old playing in that arena it was a credit to him and the club."
Bowyer believes that the confidence that the pair can take from the experience in playing such an encounter can only serve them well in their careers.
"They must take loads of confidence from the match," Bowyer added. "Grant especially because he played the full game against world-class players and in my opinion he didn't look out of place.
"From a club point of view it was a very proud moment for everybody involved, because not only did you have Grant Hanley on that pitch but Phil Jones came on and not so long ago those two were playing side-by-side in the same youth team.
"So for everyone connected to our club and the Academy it was a massive game.
"Everyone has reported back fit and well and we can just prepare now for Doncaster."
