Gary Bowyer paid tribute to the player's hard work and desire as they picked up a welcome three points at Ewood Park on Saturday.
First half goals from Jordan Rhodes and Scott Dann saw Rovers triumph 2-0 over Derby County with the win seeing Rovers climb out of the bottom three.
The win over the Rams was Rovers' first victory since defeating Arsenal in the FA Cup, a run that has gone on for too long.
"It was certainly worth the wait," Bowyer told Radio Rovers after the game. "I said all along that it is only us that could put an end to the run that we've been on and we did that through our hard work and desire.
"You just had to see the lads at the end in terms of Grant throwing himself and getting a block, Grzegorz making the save and backing it up, you saw how much the clean sheet meant.
"I know it is a cliche but I can't praise the players enough, we had that siege mentality and we've come out today and in the end we probably just deserved it.
"We got the goals at the right time, Jordan was the coolest man in the stadium when it came to taking the penalty, and we'd worked on the set-play and Scott is flying with his goals.
"We got a little bit of luck with one or two things but everything went to plan. I'm delighted with everybody."
Rovers are back in action this Tuesday night with another huge game at Ewood Park when Huddersfield Town are the visitors.
