Make home advantage count

12 April 2013

Gary Bowyer knows how vital it is that the side picks up points over the next two games.

This Saturday sees Rovers take on Derby County at Ewood Park before Huddersfield Town are the visitors on Tuesday night, two matches that could define the club's season.

"Obviously it is very good that the two games are at home first and foremost because we'll have the backing of our home supporters," Bowyer told Rovers Player.

"We have to treat it game by game, there is no point looking at the Huddersfield game until we've finished the Derby game and that is our focus.

"I think they are certainly must-win games but the most important thing is if we can't win the games we make sure that don't lose either of the games.

"Picking up points is vital now towards the end of the season."

Rovers go into the match off the back of a defeat at Sheffield Wednesday that saw the club drop into the bottom three, but Bowyer believes that a positive result against the Rams at Ewood Park could help the team finish the season well.

"A win would be massive because I think you will see the confidence just flood back into the players," added the Rovers coach.

"They've still got confidence and they've still got the belief but nothing picks you up like a win.

"The supporters go home with a smile on their face, there's a buzz around the training ground and it can set us off on a run.

"I said a couple of week's ago, once we get that first win then there is nothing stopping us going on a run, it has been a crazy season.

"The only way we are going to break our current run is by hard work. Both on the training pitch, which the players have done, and then actually in the games. Then willing the ball over the line from the fans as well."

Tickets for Saturday's match are on open sale and will be available up until the 3.00pm kick-off. Prices are from £19 for Adults, £12 for Seniors and £7 for Juniors under 16.
