David Jones felt that hard work was the key as Rovers got back to winning ways on Saturday
Goals from Jordan Rhodes and Scott Dann gave Rovers a 2-0 half-time lead against Derby County at Ewood Park with the home side able to see the game out to clinch a very welcome three points.
Speaking to Radio Rovers after the game the midfielder said: "It is a nice feeling to get the win, the lads really dug in today.
"It was never going to be a game of free flowing football, but we worked hard and managed to get the goals.
"The second half was a bit edgy but the crowd stuck with us and we managed to see it through."
Jones, on-loan until the end of the season from Wigan Athletic, felt it was the type of display needed to ensure that the club get out of their current league position, a hard-working performance that has to be repeated until the end of the season.
"It was exactly what we needed, and we know that it is the minimum for us to get out of the situation that we are in," added Jones.
"Hopefully it will give us confidence going into Tuesday. It brings the group together, in the dressing room afterwards the whole squad was delighted.
"We want to replicate that feeling again starting this Tuesday in another massive game."
