Trio to miss Tykes clash

17 September 2012

Rovers have been hit with a triple injury blow ahead of Tuesday's match against Barnsley.

Markus Olsson, Gael Givet and Colin Kazim-Richards will all be absent from Ewood Park's Roses clash.

"We certainly can't pick the same team unfortunately," admitted the Rovers boss.

"We've lost Gael Givet with quite a heavy contusion to his leg, his muscle is full of blood and we can't drain that off.

"Markus Olsson will be out for seven to ten days with a grade one hamstring, so it won't be the same side.

"Colin Kazim-Richards has also had a little bit of a backwards step as far as his injury was concerned so we'll probably lose him for another couple of weeks so that is disappointing.

"The surgeon said it was going to be four to six weeks when he got injured and we were pushing him at three weeks and two days trying to get him fit for Bristol and he just felt a little twinge so we had to back off it. So it'll be another fortnight.

"The squad will be tested, but I've said all along that we've got a really good squad and we'll just have to look closely at the lads, and make sure that the lads that do go out there are physically equipped to deliver another performance and more points."

Martin Olsson is likely to replace his brother Markus at left back, whilst fellow Saturday sub' Grant Hanley should replace Gael Givet at centre back.

One player who is back in the squad is Jason Lowe. The England Under-21 midfielder has returned to full training after missing the weekend match with an abductor strain picked up whilst on international duty.

The Rovers boss is expected to select from: Robinson, Orr, Martin Olsson, Nuno Henrique, Lowe, Nunes, Dunn, Formica, Rhodes, Pedersen, Murphy, Dann, Paulo Jorge, Etuhu, Edinho, Nuno Gomes, Rochina, Hanley, Ribeiro, Vukcevic, Kean.
