Blackburn Rovers’ Reserves will remain at Leigh Sports Village for the 2012-13 season.
An agreement has been reached for Gary Bowyer’s development squad to play their home fixtures at the state-of-the-art facility for a fourth successive season.
Under the regulations of the new Barclays Under-21 Premier League, Rovers will play two home matches at Ewood Park – the first being against Bolton Wanderers on Friday September 14th.
Rovers entertain Everton 10 days later in their first home fixture back at Leigh.
Simon Toon, Leigh Sports Village Company chief executive, said: “I am delighted that Leigh Sports Village has extended its successful partnership with Blackburn Rovers.
“The club will be playing their fourth season at the Sports Village and have built up a fantastic following in the local community, highlighted by the high attendances in the past few seasons.
“Blackburn has a first class Academy and the new Barclays Under-21 Premier League will provide fans with the opportunity to witness top quality football against sides such as Arsenal and Everton and see the stars of the future. We look forward to welcoming Blackburn back for the 2012-13 season.”
Rovers’ operations director Paul Agnew added: “It is very gratifying to hear Leigh speak so positively about the partnership, but it is a two-way street. We are delighted with how the arrangement has worked over the past three years, for all parties, and we look forward to developing it further.
“We are very fortunate to have the use of such a top facility, where we always receive a warm welcome, and we now consider Leigh to be a very close football friend.”
