Instinct takes over

3 September 2012

Ruben Rochina didn't plan to score his first goal on Saturday in the manner that he did.

The former Barcelona graduate made an immediate impact at Elland Road, coming on to rescue a point for Rovers with an audacious back-heel and a topsy-turvy 3-3 draw against Leeds United.

"In the moment you can't think too much because if you don't finish quickly you can end up missing," said the Spaniard after the match.

"I thought about it and did it quickly and it went in so I am very happy for that.

"But the most important thing is that the team takes the point.

"I don't think I've seen a goal like that before, it isn't normal to see goals like that but sometimes it is a good way to finish."

Rochina came on with 15 minutes to go and immediately set about with the task of getting an equaliser after Rovers had gone from leading 2-0 to losing 3-2 in a dramatic match.

Not everything the 21-year-old did came off, but it paid off in the end.

"I always try, I believe have belief in my ability, I always try to shoot to score, and when I get the opportunity I try to do that.

"Sometime it is right, sometimes it is wrong, but I try always."
