Blackburn Rovers have made a key appointment, with Greg Coar taking over as the club’s new head of commercial and marketing.
A life-long Rovers fan, Greg has worked at Ewood Park for almost a decade and has been promoted to the position following Ken Beamish’s retirement.
Greg said: “I know Rovers supporters and the Blackburn business market, and the challenges that we face. Suffering relegation was obviously a big blow, but we are determined to come back fighting.
“We have learnt lessons and hope to make this season as enjoyable as our last promotion campaign in 2001.
“Our job is to make it as easy as possible for fans to watch football here at Ewood Park, from the occasional match goer to our official club partners. We are determined to offer great value in whatever we do, which is the continuation of a long-term strategy.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity and I’m going to give it my all. I’m passionate about the club and share the owners’ desire to get us back in the Premier League at the first attempt.”
Rovers’ managing director, Derek Shaw, added: “Since joining the club, myself and Paul Agnew (operations director) have been impressed by Greg’s enthusiasm and commitment to the cause, and felt it appropriate to reward someone from within with such a high-profile post.
“He will have our close support and we wish him well in what is clearly a very challenging role.”
