Disappointing to lose

21 September 2012

Steve Kean has challenged his side to get back on another unbeaten run after Middlesbrough inflicted a first defeat on Rovers this season.

Two goals from Lucas Jutkiewicz gave the home side a mountain to climb at Ewood and although Grant Hanley reduced arrears in a frantic final few minutes, the visitors went away with all three points.

Speaking to Radio Rovers after the game, the manager said: "I thought we took a long time to get going after quite a bright four or five minutes.

"I think their goal comes against the run of play, but having said that it was their second goal that made the difference because if we had stayed in the game then I think we could have got something from it.

"If Scott Dann's header goes in, or if the penalty is given when Jordan Rhodes is fouled in the area, a clear-cut penalty, then we might have got something.

"But it is really disappointing to lose our unbeaten run, we just gave ourselves to much to do.

"We've got a good group, we've lots of quality, lots of good characters, it has been a great start, we'd have taken where we are before the season started, so lets go on another run.

"We need to stick together as a group and go again."
