Three of Rovers' five players out on loan saw match action over the weekend.
As has been the case in recent weeks, David Goodwillie and Myles Anderson were unused substitutes for Crystal Palace and Aldershot respectively.
Had Anderson featured for Aldershot over the weekend he'd have been up against fellow Rover Micah Evans. The young winger made his first start for the Spireites as Chesterfield defeated the Shots 1-0 at the EBB Stadium.
Evans played all but injury time in the game which was settled by Chris Atkinson's 75th minute goal.
Anthony O'Connor played 72 minutes as Burton Albion drew 0-0 at Morecambe, but there were goals in another part of Lancashire as Rochdale defeated Accrington Stanley 3-2 at the Crown Ground.
Ryan Edwards played the full match for Rochdale as they raced into a two-goal lead, but Stanley pegged them back only for Jason Kennedy to clinch all three points for John Coleman's side.
Rochdale are back in action this Tuesday against Bury, Chesterfield are at Doncaster and Aldershot are at Plymouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.
