Concerns over 'keeper

2 November 2012

Sandomierski in hospital with concussion.

Reserve team boss Gary Bowyer was far from impressed with the decision to allow Norwich City's second goal to stand as the Under-21s lost 3-2 at Ewood Park on Friday evening.

Canaries forward Jamar Loza caught Rovers goalkeeper Grzegorz Sandomierski in the face when attempting to latch onto the a through ball, inexplicably the referee allowed play to continue despite the Polish stopper being prone on the pitch and Loza duly scored.

Sandomierski received treatment on the pitch for almost ten minutes before being stretchered off.

Bowyer's immediate thoughts were with his goalkeeper post-match: "He's not good, he's in hospital.

"I think there was a bit of concussion and he's got a couple of nasty cuts to his face.

"So our thoughts are with him at the moment and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.

"It is a foul all day long, the lad has mis-controlled it and chased it eagerly, I don't think he's gone to do him but he has caught him badly.

"So from our point of view it was a foul all day long."

Rovers found themselves 3-0 down at Ewood but rallied through goals from John O'Sullivan and Tim Payne, but despite a period of concerted pressure they couldn't grab a deserved equaliser.

"We are disappointed, we've just talked about it in the dressing room then, we go 3-0 down and that sparks us into life.

"I can't fault them after that, I thought their effort and the way they went about the game was magnificent, we've had several good chances, clear-cut chances where we should have got it to 3-3 for certain, and if we had done that then with the momentum we had built we would have gone on and won the game.

"But we can't be giving teams three-goal starts whether it is a bad refereeing decision or not. If you look at the goals some of the defending hasn't been good enough."

Rovers Reserves are next in action on Sunday 11th November against Everton. The game has now been switched to Everton's Finch Farm training ground, kick-off remains at 1.00pm.
