Adam can't wait

30 November 2012

After getting a taste of a local derby against Burnley last season in the FA Youth Cup, Henley is excited by Sunday's fixture.

Defender Adam Henley is relishing the opportunity of facing Burnley once more.

The 18-year-old full back played in both FA Youth Cup semi-final matches last season, games that attracted more than 10,000 supporters to both legs.

Now as the two sides go head-to-head in the npower Championship at Turf Moor this Sunday, Henley is looking forward to the real encounter.

"It was a real experience when we played last year," said Henley.

"For all of us to play in a derby like that, we all got a sense of what it was like to play in one.

"For an Under-18s game it was quite something, a lot of the other lads had never played in anything like that before, I was lucky to have played in stadiums before, but it was a real experience and I just can't wait to play in the game on Sunday.

"I can imagine the first team game being a lot more really.

"It is something I'm looking forward to, I'm relishing the chance to play in an atmosphere like that and hopefully it will drive the team on."

Whilst Henley is one of a handful of local lads amongst the Rovers ranks, he is sure that the other players will appreciate what the match against Burnley means to everyone.

"I'm sure the players who haven't played in this game have played in other derbies so they know what a derby brings and I'm sure they'll understand that and play to the best of their ability.

"All the players are aware of it, hopefully it will all come together."

Rovers have sold out their ticket allocation for this game, whilst the beam-back at Ewood Park has also sold out.

Rovers Player will bring you full uninterrupted commentary of the game online.
