Rovers kicked off their pre-season with comfortable 2-0 victory over League Two side Fleetwood Town in the first game of a double-header at the Crown Ground.
On a pleasant afternoon in Accrington, Rovers controlled the early exchanges and broke the deadlock after just six minutes.
A sublime first time cross-field pass from Fabio Nunes was collected wide by Bruno Ribiero, who sent a deep cross to the back post for the lurking Nuno Gomes who expertly headed the ball into the path of Mauro Formica for the Argentine to slide home.
Moments later the lively Nunes cut the ball inside to Danny Murphy, who played a one-two with Formica before firing just wide. Leon Best has one headed cleared off the line and another saved by the goalkeeper from the resulting corners.
Neat play on the 20 minute mark between Murphy and Best allowed Nunes space on the edge of the box, but his rasping effort whistled inches over the bar.
Fleetwood had their first real chance of the afternoon on 34 minutes when Jon Parkin's screamer was deflected narrowly over the bar. The resultant corner is headed well wide.
Rovers almost doubled their lead shortly after the break when a loose ball broke nicely for Best who rounded the keeper, but was thwarted by the last defender on the line.
Rovers got the second goal they deserved when Formica raced down to the by-line eight minutes into the second half and crossed for the unmarked Gomes who volleyed home from 15 yards via the inside of the post - his first goal in blue and white.
Shortly after the hour mark a powerful forward run from Best set up Nunes with a clear shot on goal, but his well-placed finish was cleared off the line by a defender.
The tricky Nunes again found space on the edge of the area 15 minutes from time, but his shot was tipped around the post by the goalkeeper. His shot from the following corner is wide of the mark.
Kean (Usai), Ribeiro, Givet, Dann, Morris, Formica, Murphy (c), Jorge, Nunes, Gomes (Edinho), Best.
