Academy captain joins League Two side on loan.
One of Rovers' rising stars Ryan Edwards will gain valuable league experience after completing a loan move to Rochdale.
The 18-year-old has joined up with the League Two side to start a six-month loan spell.
Liverpool-born Edwards enjoyed a successful campaign last season as he captained the under 18s on their way to the FA Youth Cup and Academy National League finals, so to join up with John Coleman's Rochdale will certainly aid the central defenders progression.
"It is a brilliant opportunity for Ryan," said Reserve team boss Gary Bowyer. "To step up from last year's successful youth team and under the guidance of John Coleman we know he'll be looked after well there.
"Hopefully he'll be playing in the first team and getting regular first team football which will be fantastic for him.
"We want to push the players on and that is the case with the youth players playing in the Reserves and then obviously the next stage is getting them league experience and this opportunity came along and it suited both parties and it will be really good, so we are looking forward to seeing how he develops."
The move means that Edwards could face his Rovers team-mates when Rochdale play Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Spotland on Wednesday 25th July.
