Morten Gamst Pedersen knows of the importance of football's festive period.
Morten Gamst Pedersen wants to make it a Christmas to remember for Rovers fans by earning a positive points haul over the festive period.
As Rovers prepare to face Cardiff City at Ewood Park this Friday evening, the Norwegian international knows how important it is to start to hit form at this time of the season due to the large amount of games played over a short period of time.
"Hopefully it can be the start of a good Christmas for us and we can get loads of points," said the Rovers star.
"We need points so Friday is the perfect chance to do that. To take three points from the leaders and to move closer to them.
"They have done well so it is going to be a tough challenge but every game is a tough challenge, this is a tough league to be in.
"We are meeting a team that is really good form and has been doing really well, so it will be a good tester for us.
"We just need to work hard, it is an important game for us, we can't afford to lose it if we are to catch up with them and if we want to reach the Premier League.
"We want to cut that distance down to nine points and get a win.
"The main thing is to win games, it doesn't matter how you win them it is to get the three points. We haven't been good enough to finish off the games, we've conceded some silly goals in the last few minutes.
"We've been unlucky sometimes, but sometimes we haven't been good enough. We admit that and so we have been working hard in training so that we can be better.
"We just have to try and keep clean sheets, that is the main thing, then if you can score a goal you can win."
