Henning happy with defensive solidity

4 December 2012

Rovers boss pleased with the way his side defended on derby day.

Henning Berg has poured praise on the way his side defended in Sunday's derby clash at Burnley.

The first half saw the home side put Rovers under some serious pressure which was withstood by a strong defensive unit.

And although Rovers let two points slip from their grasp when Sam Vokes' 89th minute header cancelled out Jordan Rhodes' 13th of the season, the Rovers boss was still pleased with the application from his defenders.

"I thought the whole back four and the goalkeeper defended really well," said the Norwegian.

"The two central midfielders, Jason and Danny, their positional play was great, getting blocks in, picking up the players.

"They made sure we were hard to beat and we needed to be that because we didn't defend as well as we should have done a little bit higher up the pitch in the wide areas, they got too many crosses in.

"When they did get in we were first to it."

Henning also compared his derby experience as both a player and manager: "I thought it was much of the same.

"The only difference is when you get angry you can kick someone on the pitch, you can't do that in the dugout."

Rovers are back in action this Friday night when Cardiff City are the visitors to Ewood Park.

Tickets will be on open sale up until kick-off with prices starting from £15 for Adults, £10 for OAPs and £5 for Juniors. Book online today at
