A great chance to put things right

19 December 2012

Jordan Rhodes wants Rovers to bounce back in style following last weekend's defeat at Blackpool.

Rovers suffered their only second loss on their travels last time out, with the star striker wanting to make amends on Saturday at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

"We want to put it right," Jordan told Rovers Player. "The fans paid their hard-earned money to go along to Blackpool and we didn't really reward them with goals and a performance, in that second half particularly.

"There's a game on Saturday, we're up against Brighton who are a tough team, but we are at home and hopefully we can put on a positive display and hopefully come away with a positive result."

The game against Gus Poyet's side marks the start of the busy Christmas period and Rovers' record signing knows just how vital it is to come through with a healthy haul of points.

"It is very important, there are a lot of games coming up in a short space of time," added Rhodes.

"There are lots of points up for grabs so suddenly what might be bad form can turn into good form.

"I guess that is good for the situation we are in at the moment, we aren't in a particularly good run of form but it is a great time and a great period to put it right.

"In a lot of sports, particularly this year, people have talked about momentum. You look at the Olympics, the Ryder Cup, even the Mosconi Cup in Pool and a lot of sports talk about momentum.

"Hopefully we go on a bit of a run and pick up the points, you saw Reading do that last year in the Championship and hopefully the momentum will be behind Blackburn Rovers and we can put the fear into opposition teams throughout the Championship.

"Whenever you pick up two or three results on the bounce and you are picking up wins then you quickly climb the table, again there is no better example of that than Reading last year.

"Hopefully with that attitude and taking one game at a time, with a decent run behind us we can be back around those top-six positions."
