Steve Kean was delighted as Rovers claimed their first three-point haul of the season.
Rovers were made to work hard by Hull City on Wednesday evening, but the home side persevered as Colin Kazim-Richards' second goal of the season gave them all three points.
"It is a clean sheet and another goal for Colin Kazim-Richards," said the Rovers boss on Radio Rovers after the games.
"I think that is four goals in three starts for Colin if you include the friendly game against Cork in pre-season.
"In the first half I felt we were keeping the ball well but we didn't ask enough questions of Hull. We didn't play it through the lines quick enough.
"We had to be patient, but sometimes in the first half we didn't really get anywhere.
"In the second half I felt it was much better, we opened them up a lot more.
"We had to win the game, if it had just been a point then last Saturday's game wouldn't have been a good point.
"Now we have three points and that makes the point at Ipswich an excellent one.
"We now face Leicester on Saturday, we are a good side and I think we are improving."
