Opportunity missed

28 August 2012

Rovers boss upset after crashing out of the Capital One Cup.

Steve Kean wasn't happy as Rovers lost 2-1 to MK Dons in the 2nd round of the Capital One Cup.

A second half brace from Luke Chadwick gave Rovers a mountain to climb and although David Goodwillie reduced arrears in the closing stages it wasn't enough as Rovers crashed out in disappointing fashion.,

"I never thought we played well," admitted the Rovers boss. "We were too predictable.

"It was an opportunity for some players who haven't had as many minutes as others. They got the chance and it was up to them to take it.

"I just feel that with the younger players it was their opportunity to push for a first team start but they didn't grasp it.

"I'm disappointed for the supporters who came down, I'm sure they expected us to win as I did. We make no excuses, the team that was selected on the night was good enough to get us through to the next round.

"Some of the performances we lacking in the required standard."
