Rovers' new team captain has just one goal this season - promotion.
Danny Murphy knows that getting out of the second tier of English football certainly won't be easy, but the club will be giving it all to make their time out of the Barclays Premier League as short as possible.
Rovers get their npower Championship campaign underway later today when they travel to take on Ipswich Town at Portman Road and for Murphy and the rest of the players, they can't wait.
"I'm so looking forward to it, the lads can't wait to get going," admitted the midfielder.
"You know what it is like in pre-season you play these practice games and even though they mean a little bit it isn't quite the same as the competitive first day when pitches are nice, stadiums are full, the sun is shining and everybody is raring to go.
"Of course you only enjoy it if you get the result that you want, we've got three games in a week so it is important that you get off to a decent start.
"In the first couple of interviews I did I stated that the aim and the ambition of the club was to get promoted straight away.
"Saying that there is no god-given right, it is going to be hard work, there are a lot of good teams in this division.
"All of the better teams are all thinking they should go up.
"But we've made some good signings and there are already some good established players here so there's no excuses.
"The aim is to go up and if we don't do that we've failed."
