Loan stars get game time

19 August 2012

All four of Rovers' players out on loan saw match action on the opening day of the league season.

Away at Rovers' Capital One Cup opponents MK Dons, Jordan Slew started for Oldham Athletic but Paul Dickov's side were on the end of a 2-0 away defeat.

Striker Slew played all but ten minutes of the match at stadium:MK.

Down into League Two and the only side featuring a loan player to win was Aldershot Town. Myles Anderson started on the bench but came on late as a substitute as the Shots defeated Plymouth Argyle 2-0 away at Home Park.

Ryan Edwards will have been pleased to start the season with a clean sheet as Rochdale drew 0-0 at home with Northampton Town. The young defender playing the full match for Dale.

But it wasn't an ideal start for Anthony O'Connor as his side Burton Albion lost 3-0 on the opening day away at Rotherham United.

Usually a centre half, O'Connor played the full match at right back for the Brewers. The experience for the young Irishman will have been huge.

Tuesday sees the teams in action once more, Burton are at home to AFC Wimbledon, Rochdale travel to Chesterfield, whilst Aldershot are at home to Exeter City. Oldham are at home to Walsall.
