The Academy were washed away by Preston North End at a sodden Brockhall on Tuesday.
The game, which had been switched to Rovers' Brockhall training ground, ended up being a match to forget for Terry McPhillips' under 18 side as they lost 4-1 to their near-neighbours.
Rovers started the game brightly enough, Jordan Preston firing the home side in front, but as the weather worsened it was the visitors who took command.
North End deservedly equalised just before the break following a mistake from Ryan Thompson and Rovers had no answer in a poor second half display that saw them ship a further three goals.
After the match McPhillips said: "It wasn't a good day at the office, we didn't deal with the conditions well at all.
"We messed about with it and kept getting caught and kept on making the wrong decisions. It was really disappointing.
"We play Coventry City away at the weekend, we have to do better."
