Tuesday night sees Damien Johnson's Under-23s side back in Premier League 2 action as Rovers take on Southampton's Under-23s for the fourth and final time this term.
It was only a few of weeks ago that the Saints were back at Leyland, with the two teams doing battle in the Premier League Cup, which resulted in both sides progressing in the competition following a 0-0 draw on the night.
Like Rovers, Martin Hunter's Saints will be smarting from Premier League Cup elimination last time out, with the Hampshire side being knocked out after losing 4-0 at home to Leicester City.
Rovers have won four of their last five games in Premier League 2, which has cemented their place at the top of the table slightly, with the lead over second placed Aston Villa being one point but with a game in hand on the Villans.
Opponents Southampton are in mid-table coming into this one and are undefeated in their last five league games, winning four of them.
It remains to be seen whether Lewis Mansell will be back in time from injury to feature, whilst with it being nine days before the next home game, the likes of Peter Whittingham could feature, as could Ben Gladwin.
There may also be some Under-18s playing against the south coast side, with Jack Evans, Jack Vale, Lewis Thompson, Sam Barnes and John Buckley all playing a part on Friday against Aston Villa.
Kick-off at the Lancashire FA HQ is at 7pm on Tuesday evening.
